President asks BAF personnel to uphold country’s image

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked air force
members to become efficient and ideal ones to elevate the image of Bangladesh
Air Force (BAF) and the country as well.

“Each member of the air force should attain world-standard efficiency to
uphold the dignity of the country,” he said while addressing the National
Standard Award Ceremony of the 1, 3,5,8,9 and 71 Squadrons of BAF at its
Bangabandhu Base in Dhaka Cantonment here.

President Hamid, also the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, stressed the
need for imparting advanced training and doing hard work to take the BAF’s
achievements into a new height.

“Attaining professional skill is very important for you (BAF members). It
increases self-confidence and also enhances the force’s goodwill and dignity
as well. So you have to prepare yourself to be more skilled and ideal air
force members,” he suggested.

The head of the state hoped that the air force personnel would play more
active role for the development activities of the country and the nation in
the days to come.

Considering the geographical location of the country, strategic position
and scope of economic development and prospects, President Hamid said the
incumbent government is very sincere to make the air force a time-befitting,
powerful and professional one in line with the Forces Goal -2030.

The President also asked BAF members to be more careful and attentive in
preserving all modern and valuable equipment, including warplanes.

“Bangladesh is now on the highway of development. Security is essential for
development. That’s why the security of our airspace is also very important,”
he observed.

Lauding overall activities of the air force, the President said apart from
the regular task of protecting the sovereignty of country’s skyline, the air
force members are contributing a lot towards other works during natural
disasters, rescue campaign and distribution of relief materials.

“Besides, Bangladesh Air Force has made significant contributions to the UN
peacekeeping missions brightening Bangladesh’s image globally,” the President
added.

Earlier, on his arrival, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF)
Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat and Commandant of BAF Base
Bangabandhu Air Vice Marshal M Sayed Hossain welcomed the President.
Accompanied by Sayed Hossain and Wing Commander Group Masudur Rahman, the
President inspected the parade riding on an open jeep and took the salute.

Local lawmaker, foreign diplomats, civil and military high officials and
secretaries concerned to the President were also present during the ceremony.
President also had his lunch and joined the photo session there. He also
signed a visitors’ book.
