OIC executive committee emergency meeting in Istanbul tomorrow

DHAKA, July 31, 2017 (BSS) -The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an Open-ended extraordinary meeting of its eight-member executive committee in Istanbul, Turkey tomorrow to discuss about ‘the deeply worrying escalation in Al Quds Al Sharif.

The meeting will focus the discussion on deeply worrying escalation in Al Quds Al Sharif and the grave violations committed by Israel against the sanctity of Masjid Al-Aqsa and Palestinian people, a foreign ministry statement said here today.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam left Dhaka for Istanbul today to attend the meeting.

He is leading a five-member delegation that includes Director General (International Organizations), Ambassador of Bangladesh to Turkey, Consul General of Bangladesh to Istanbul and Director of State Minister’s Office.

The state minister will convey that the people and the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina condemn and totally reject the Israeli violations and stand in full solidarity with the Palestinian brothers and sisters, the statement said.

He will also mention the importance of creation mass awareness in Non- Muslim states in favour of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and the Ummah must call, in single voice, on the UN Security Council and UNESCO for fulfilling their resolution bound responsibilities of protecting the people of Palestine and its holy places, it added.
