Creating awareness to reduce pollution stressed
DHAKA, May 31, 2018 (BSS)- Speakers at a workshop here today urged the concerned authorities to gear up awareness to protect pollution caused by negative impacts of industrialization.
They made the call at the workshop titled, ‘Reducing emission of green house gas from sea-bound ships’ at the Muktijoddha Smriti auditorium of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority bhaban.
Secretary of the Shipping Ministry Md Abdus Samad addressed the workshop as the chief guest while Department of Shipping Director General Commodore Syed Ariful Islam and Chief Engineer and Ship Surveyor Manjurul Jabir spoke at the function.
Samad said industrial production is increasing with the raising of the number of industries in the country. But effective steps to reduce pollution by the owners of industries are not in sight, he added.
“We should take proper initiatives to reduce the pollution caused by industrialization,” he said.
