Reaping benefits of karate stressed for self-defense


RANGPUR, Oct 28, 2019 (BSS) – Sports personalities at a function have
stressed on learning perfect practice of karate to reap its enormous benefits
like techniques for self-defense, developing physical strength and keep human
body fit and flexible.

They viewed this at a function organised by Shito Ryu Karate School
Rangpur in association with Yoga Zone Rangpur at Gymnasium on Rangpur Stadium
premises in the city on Sunday afternoon.

The function was arranged for distribution of Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue,
Violet and Brown Colour Belts and certificates among 65 people on their
successful completion of training on karate.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan attended the function and distributed
the belts and certificates as the chief guest with President of Shito Ryu
Karate School Rangpur Shahidul Islam Miju in the chair.

Member of Bangladesh Cricket Board and General Secretary of the Divisional
Sports Association Advocate Anwarul Islam, Vice-president of Shito Ryu Karate
School Rangpur Enamul Haque Sohel, Treasurer of District Sports Association
Khondker Abdul Mazid Hiru and its Member Rafikul Islam were present as
special guests.

General Secretary of Shito Ryu Karate School Rangpur and Executive
Director of Yoga Zone Rangpur AB Babel delivered welcome speech and exhibited
various techniques of karate.

The trainee-members of Shito Ryu Karate School Rangpur and Yoga Zone
Rangpur also displayed colourful physical exercise of the sports of karate.

Advocate Anwarul Islam said karate is a discipline, a fitness regimen and
an effective form of useful self-defense that offers a myriad of physical
benefits for the body and mind of the people of all ages.

Shahidul Islam Miju said the first and obvious benefit of karate training
is that it allows everyone to defend himself or herself better in a dangerous

“Like other types of martial arts, karate training prepares people to
defend themselves from aggressors by giving them the senses to react quickly
and effectively in dangerous or life-threatening situations,” Miju added.

The chief guest said majority of people are still not aware of many
varieties of fitness benefits that are associated with learning and training
in karate which is a high-aerobic activity that utilizes virtually every
muscle group in human body.
