Don’t want to hog headlines for wrong reasons: Al-Amin

DHAKA, Oct 26, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh pacer Al-Amin Hossain, who was recalled to national team after three years hiatus, vowed not to hog the headlines for all wrong reasons again in his life.

He instead wants to use his performance as a tool to cement his place in the national team, which he lost following his off-field anomalies.

The fast bowler, prominent for his deadly leg-cutter, had the bad image for his disciplinary issues. He was sent back to the country during the 2015 World Cup in Australia-New Zealand and also slapped with punishment for his off-field issues during the BPL in 2016.

All those issues are believed to lead his downfall from the national team.

Al Amin said that he is now more matured than before and he wants to prove it by doing well in the upcoming series against India.

“I came back in the national team after three and half years. May be the bad image or the discipline issue is the reason. And when you are outside of the team, you realize what is good for yourself. You learn those things. So tired to learn many things in those three and half years. Maybe I made the mistakes which was out of the context of cricket, it won’t be repeated,” he said here today.

Amin said that he is looking forward to make his return memorable by cementing his place in the national set-up.

The injury of Taskin Ahmed and off form of another pacer Rubel Hossain indeed paved his way into the national team.

“Definitely, there is a very good opportunity. There is a T20 World Cup ahead. I was with the team in last two T20 World Cups. Now, it has been almost three and half years I was not with the team. Now the coaching staffs are also new, and our pace bowlers- some of them are injured and maybe they could not perform as the team management wanted. So they gave me a chance, so I will try to execute the opportunity properly,” said Al Amin adding that they are working on developing their skill set under the new pace bowling coach Charl Langeveldt and looking for to execute the plan that the South African lay in front of them to gun down their opponent.

“Here we are talking about plan. And everyone has different skills. So there are plans and you need to work according to that. It is coach who will give the plan and it is my responsibility to execute it. So if I can execute the plans appropriately, then I will be successful. So there has to be good combination of both. And we are discussing both the things. When we will play against India, we may find the fields small or the wicket may be slow or fast. So it depends on the plans but the execution will remain the same. So my responsibility is to execute the plans properly,” he concluded.
