CHATTOGRAM, Oct 23, 2019 (BSS)-A suspected killer of doctor Shah Alam
murder case was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at
north Bashbaria village of Sitakunda upazila early hours today.
The deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmed Sumon alias Kalu, 27, he was
the main leader of a notorious robber gang in the area, RAB said.
Kazi Mohammad Tareaq Aziz, assistant director of RAB-7, said they arrested
human hauler driver Omar Faruk, 20, in connection with Dr Shah Alam murder on
Tuesday morning.
Driver Faruk confessed to his role in the killing before the court and
revealed names of several men, including prime suspect Sumon, who involved
and led the killing.
On secrete information a team of RAB conducted a drive in the north
Bansbaria village around 4:30am to arrest Sumon.
Sensing presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire targeting
RAB team that prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight, he added.
Sumon received bullet while exchanging fire between RAB and his cohorts
and died on the spot.
Later, RAB team recovered two firearms including a pistol and 27 bullets
from the spot.
Dr Alam, 57, was chopped to death by the miscreants while returning home
from his work place at Kumira under Sitakunda upazila.
He was the pediatric specialist and head of the department of Medina
Hospital in Saudi Arabia and recently returned home to serve the people of
his native village.
