Khasru urges officials to discharge duty with sincerity
KHULNA, Oct 19, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock
Md. Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru urged officials concerned to discharge their
duties to expedite economic progress of the country.
“The government has taken massive development programmes… So, officials
and employees should work sincerely for successful implementation of the
development programmes,” he told here yesterday (Friday).
A view-exchange meeting was held with the officials of District Fisheries
and Livestock Department at Circuit House conference room in the city.
“We have already contacted with the authorities of Bangabandhu Satellite to
intensify monitoring over fishing boats,” the state minister said.
He said the country’s total fish production stood at 42.77 lakh metric
tons, thanks to the massive initiatives taken by the government in the past 10
years.
More than 11 percent people of the country depend on the fisheries sector
and 3.57 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) comes from this sector, he
added.
Secretary of Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Md Roisul Alam Mondal
presided over the meeting while Director General of Fisheries Department Kazi
Shams Afroz attended the meeting as the special guest.
Joint Secretary and Director (Admin) of Fisheries and Livestock Ministry
Md. Toufiqul Arif and Md. Abdul Jabbar Shikder, ADC (General) Ziaur Rahman,
Project Director Md. Hasan Ahned Chaudhury, Divisional Deputy Director Of
Fisheries Department Ronjit Kumar Pal, among others, addressed the meeting.
