Rich tributes paid to Sheikh Russel on his birthday

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) and different socio-cultural
organizations today paid glowing homage to Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by placing wreaths at
his mazar at Banani graveyard here on his 56th birthday.

Awami League placed wreath at the mazar of Sheikh Russel at 8am. The party
also laid wreaths at the mazars of other victims’ of August 15, 1975 carnage
at that time.

Sheikh Russel was brutally killed along with most of his family members
including his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 in 1975.

AL Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury, its General Secretary and Road
Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretaries
Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Information Minister and AL’s
Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Housing and Public Works
Minister SM Rezaul Karim, AL’s Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain, Office
Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Central Committee Member SM Kamal
Hossain, among others, placed the wreaths on behalf of the party.

Later, various social and cultural organizations including AL’s Dhaka north
and south units, Awami Jubo League north and south city units, Chattra
League, Awami Swechasebok League, Tanti League, Sramik League, Mohila Awami
League, Mohila Sramik League, and Krishak League also paid homage by placing
wreaths at the grave of Sheikh Russel.

A milad-mahfil was also held at the Banani graveyard mosque for eternal
peace of the departed souls of August 15, 1975 carnage victims.

Leaders from the ruling AL and its associate bodies participated in the
milad-mahfil.
