DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – With the government’s stand of not allowing anyone to interfere with the rights of small ethnic communities, it (government) will not stay away from taking stern actions against the abusers.

This was stated by Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim today while addressing the ‘Wangala’ (The Hundred Drums Festival) celebration programme of the ‘Garo’ tribe in city’s Banani area.

“The daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina wants to ensure the constitutional right of every person in this country. The present government is working in this regard. The government does not want anyone to interfere with the rights of small ethnic groups. If anyone does, the government will take stern action against him.” he said.

The minister urged the administration to stay alert so that no ethnic groups are obstructed in pursuing their own culture.

The people of Garo community made immense sacrifices by participating in the War of Liberation, he said, adding that the premier will always stand by all small ethnic communities to resolve their problems.

With Garo Traditional Wangala Celebration Council President Mukul Cicham in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Awami League Advisory Council Member Abdul Baset Majumder, Caritas Development Institute (CDI) Director Theophil Nokrek and Jagorani Multimedia Limited Managing Director Shuvo Khan.
