Momen seeks German investment in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Oct 18 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, on his
first official visit to Germany, has invited the German enterprises to invest
in Bangladesh for a win-win scenario.

Momen highlighted the current business-friendly policies and environment
of Bangladesh while he was addressing the German Federal Association for
Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) in Berlin on Thursday, according
to a message received here today.

The foreign minister called upon German companies to invest in
infrastructure, renewable energy and manufacturing sectors in Bangladesh.

Mentioning different facilities at the Special Economic Zones, set up by
Bangladesh government in different areas across the country, he called upon
German global car manufacturing giants like Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen to
set up their assembly plants in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar in
Chattogram.

Momen assured full support of the government of Bangladesh in ensuring
profitable investments by German companies.

Referring to the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), recently
formed under Prime Minister Office, Momen urged Germany to assist Bangladesh
in building a strong workforce of skilled young population explaining that it
would create a win-win situation for Bangladesh and the potential German
investors.

President of BGMEA Dr Rubana Huq also participated at the meeting along
with the foreign minister.

On the same day, Momen also addressed the Seventh International Conference
on Bangladesh organised by the Bangladesh Forum in Germany where he
highlighted the Bangladesh government’s endeavour in achieving its vision
2021 and vision 2041.

He also explained Rohingya crisis to the international audience and called
for more active role of Bangladeshi friends in solving the crisis urgently.

The foreign minister also held a meeting with Member of German Federal
Parliament and Chairman of the South-Asian Parliamentary Group Tobias
Pflueger.

He urged the Chairman to take appropriate measures in the parliament to
ensure fair prices for Bangladeshi textile products in German market.
