1st Scientific Congress on NCDs on October 20-21

DHAKA, Oct 17, 2019 (BSS) – The first scientific congress on non-
communicable diseases (NCDs) will be held from October 20-21 in the city.

The information was revealed today in a press conference held at
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) by BSMMU Vice Chancellor
Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua.

The Clinical Research platform, a tripartite initiative of International
Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B), BSMMU and
British Medical Journal (BMJ) will organise the congress for the first time,
a press release said.

The official inauguration of the congress will be held on October 20 at
Shaheed Dr Milon Hall at BSMMU with the presence of Health Minister Zahid
Maleque as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) Chairman and former Advisor to
the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Prof Dr Syed Modasser Ali and Health
Services Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam will attend it as special
guests.

The Congress will conclude following an award giving ceremony to be held
on October 21 with the presence of University Grants Commission (UGC)
Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah as the chief guest, the release added.

Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary-in-charge Shaikh
Yusuf Harun and Directorate General of Health Services Director General Prof
Abul Kalam Azad will be present as special guests on the occasion.
