Parliaments should play role in establishing rule of law: speaker

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said parliaments should play an important role in establishing human rights and rule of law around the globe.

“It quite is possible to create awareness through parliamentary diplomacy in establishing and protecting human rights and rule of law at national, regional and international levels,” she said.

The Jatiya Sangsad Speaker was addressing the general debate — “Strengthening International Law: Parliamentary Rules and Mechanism and the Contribution of Regional Cooperation” — of the 141st IPU Conference held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, according to a message received here.
