President asks govt officers to perform duties at designated spots

ITNA (Kishoreganj), Oct 13, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today
asked government officials to do their jobs properly staying at their
assigned places to gear up the development of local areas as well as the
whole country.

“Do your job properly staying at your respective assigned places. . . If
you don’t have such mentality to stay at remote haor areas, you better quit,
he said. He was addressing a public gathering at Rashtropati Abdul Hamid
Government Degree College ground here this evening.

The President categorically issued a note of warning to government
officers working in remote haor areas, saying, “Whatever you do here, work
honestly and then this area as well as the whole country will be developed.”

The head of sate directed them not to misuse their time to reach their
respective working places from long distances and to give up this trend for
the greater interest of the nation.

Expressing grave concern over the lack of quality education in haor
region to compete with the national standard for getting suitable jobs,
President Hamid observed that the haor region still remains backward.
“Education doesn’t mean to pass SSC, HSC or Honours levels, it should be the
marinating quality which is suitable for getting jobs in this competitive
world,” he observed.

The President advised students to learn properly to get a good job and
prepare themselves for competing, globally.

Referring to local developments, he stressed on proper maintenance of all
development work and urged the public representatives, distinguished
personalities and local administration to remain vigilant in this connection.

Abdul Hamid is on a weeklong visit to his ancestral home district,
Kishoreganj. Today is the fourth day of his tour. During the tour he also
called upon all political leaders, social and cultural organizations to work
together to gear up the ongoing development work as, “It’s impossible for me
to ensure that alone.”

Terming the connecting roads here a greater opportunity for the haor
region, the President said if it is possible to ensure fair and proper
management of all these development projects, it could be turned into a
tourist spot and would help change the region.

Abdul Hamid, who was earlier elected lawmaker for seven times from the
haor area, suggested the elected public leaders to maintain good relations
with the people the way maintained before the elections.

He urged all, irrespective of party affiliation, to work together to
ensure sustainable development.

Local MP Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq and Zilla Parishad chairman Zillur Rahman
also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the President laid the foundation stone of “Rashida Khanam
Girls Hostel” of the college and inaugurated the construction work of 590-
metre Rashtropati Md Abdul Hamid Bridge on Itna- Jawarhat-Hijoljani road
there.

Secretaries concerned to the President and senior officials of the local
administration were also present.
