DHAKA, Oct 9, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) today demanded
immediate trail of the killers of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

Abrar Fahad, 22, a second-year-student of electrical and electronics
engineering (EEE) department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology (BUET) was allegedly beaten to death and his dead body was found
in the early hours of Monday at his dormitory Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

At a press conference held at Dhaka University’s Modhur Canteen, the BCL
leaders said that BCL will extend all out support to hold trail of the
perpetrators involved in Abrar’s killing.

“We demand that the trail must be completed as soon as possible. Maximum
punishment of the killers must be ensured. BCL never patronises terrorism. No
BCL leader or activist can escape from trial if he is involved in any
criminal offence,” said BCL acting president Al-Nahean Khan Joy while reading
out a written statement.

Terming the demand for banning student politics as illogical, the acting
BCL president said a vested quarter is trying to fish in troubled water even
though BCL and the law enforcement agencies are performing their duties
properly to ensure justice for Abrar’s murder.

While questioning whether BCL’s BUET unit committee will be dissolved,
acting general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya said, “As BCL is a very big
organization, any of its unit cannot be dissolved just for the crime of an
individual”.

“BCL will not take the responsibility of any individual’s crime”, Lekhak
added.
