DHAKA, Oct 9, 2019 (BSS) – Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said potentiality of post offices is being increased with the digitization of the country.

“Utilizing the countrywide expanded network and huge manpower, we would build up the post offices as a digital and benchmark organization,” he said while addressing a function organized to mark the World Post Day at the Bangladesh Post Office (BPO).

He also unveiled the new logo of BPO’s digital financial service Nagad at the function.

Jabbar said BPO has been working relentlessly for the financial inclusion of people of Bangladesh and digital financial service Nagad is an outcome of this endeavor.

“The centenary-old ‘money order’ from now on would be transformed into ‘digital money order’ and it would be available at BPO’s digital financial service Nagad, and people would be able to do quick transaction using the service,” he added.

Focusing on the motto of the financial inclusion of mass people, Jabbar said, Nagad and state-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk have opened up a new chapter in the history of Bangladesh. Teletalk has brought 60 lakh customers under the service of Nagad in a day.

The minister said Teletalk users would enjoy all services of Nagad from now, but they have to set Nagad account pin only.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Nagad Service on March 26, the Independence Day of Bangladesh this year.

BPO Director General S S Vadra also spoke on the occasion with Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswad in the chair.
