Bangladeshi peacekeepers pioneers in world: GOC

CHATTOGRAM, May 29, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladeshi peacekeepers are not only a
role model in global peacekeeping but also pioneers in different fields, said
Jahangir Kabir Talukdar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24th
Infantry Division, today.

“The example created by Bangladesh in participating women in the UN
peacekeeping is highly appreciated by the world,” he said.

Jahangir Kabir made this comments while speaking as the chief guest on
the occasion of 70th International Day of UN Peacekeepers at Alauddin
Auditorium of Jahourul Hoque Base of Bangladesh Air Force here.

He said Bangladeshi female officials are performing their respective duties
in UN peacekeeping missions with outmost sincerity and maintaining
professionalism.

It is also a matter of proud that female pilots are now working as
peacekeepers where Bangladesh was the first to lead two female contingents,
he said.

Paying tributes to the peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives in
establishing global peace, Jahangir Kabir said Bangladeshi peacekeepers
participated in 54 UN missions in 40 countries. “Our peacekeepers are now
serving in 10 countries.”

Air Commander of Bangladesh Air Force Jahourul Base Morshed Hasan, Naval
Commander Rear Admiral M Abu Ashraf and high officials of Bangladesh Army,
Navy and Air Force attended the function.
