DHAKA, July 26, 2017 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon today asked the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to promote domestic tourism through branding of attractive spots of their respective districts.

“We have to promote domestic tourism for creating a solid ground to expand inbound tourism in the country,” he said while addressing the second day’s first session of the three-day conference of DCs at the Secretariat here.

The minister said every district of the country has some unique features. The DCs can play a vital role in branding of those unique features to attract both domestic and foreign tourists to their districts.

The minister also urged the deputy commissioners to explore new tourist destinations in their respective districts.

Noting that the DCs create bridge between the government and the people, Menon called upon the deputy commissioners to work with utmost sincerity and honesty at the grassroots for ensuring development and good governance.

Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju and Deputy Minister Abdullah Al Islam addressed the session as special guests with Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam in the chair.
