PIROJPUR, Sept 19, 2019 (BSS) – Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said media is enjoying the optimum freedom during the era of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.
“This (AL) government had given licenses to a large number of newspapers and private television channels. The country’s first private TV channel was launched during the 1996-2001 period of the Sheikh Hasina government,” he told the inaugural session of a training programme here.
Press Institute of Bangladesh arranged the three-day investigative journalism training programme at Pirojpur Circuit House auditorium.
Speaking as the chief guest, Rezaul said the regime of the present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is the golden era for media.
Chaired by National Housing Authority chairman Md Rashidul Islam, the function was addressed, among others, by PIB director general Zafar Wajed, deputy commissioner of Pirojur Abu Ali Md Sajjad Hossain, PIB executive body member Sheikh Mamunur Rashid and Pirojpur Press Club president Jahirul Haque Titu.
