Efforts on to curb corruption from education, health: ACC

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2019 (BSS) – Sticking to his graft-elimination stance, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said the commission is out to continue its utmost efforts to root out corruption besetting the education and health management mechanism.

“To envisage on turning young generation into human resources, the commission has been making its maximum strides to prevent and control the ills of corruption prevalence in education and health management,” he said.

He stated this at a meeting with a 3-member delegation led by South Asian representative to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Suruchi Pant at the ACC head office in the capital.

“The government or any political party is not obstructing the doings of the Anti-Corruption Commission, which is being dubbed as a major strength.” he said.

The ACC chairman said the commission is facing a tough challenge in controlling the corruption being committed availing the devices of information technology.

Enunciating the collective efforts and cohesion of all concerned authorities to take the curse of corruption to its lowest ebb, he said, the Bangladesh Bank, the National Board of Revenue and the ACC could handle all types of illegal transactions, including trade-based money laundering, with the optimum use of technology.

UNODC Programme Officer (Terrorism Prevention) Marina Yakunina was present, among others, on the occasion.
