Hasan urges Tripura CM to setup Bangabandhu Museum at Agartala

DHAKA, Sept 16, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today proposed to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to set up a Bangabandhu Museum and a Shaheed Minar at Agartala in India considering the interests of majority of Bangla speaking people living there.

The information minister came up with the proposal when he met the Tripura chief minister at his office in Agartala this afternoon, according to a message received here.

During the meeting, Biplab gave a positive response to the proposal of the Bangladesh Information Minister.

The chief minister suggested working together to implement the proposal of linking Chattogram and Mongla Ports with India to hasten the export and import of goods.

Remembering the affection of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Biplab said, “She urged me to stop drug smuggling along the borders and we are implementing it.”

Recalling the outstanding contributions of Tripura people to the Bangladesh’s Liberation War, Dr Hasan said the citizens of Tripura not only opened the doors of the state for Bangladeshis, but also displayed their openness of mind for welcoming them during their hard-time.

During the meeting, they discussed setting up of the Akhaura-Agartala rail connectivity, vehicle movement on the Bangladesh-India-Bhutan-Nepal route, easing goods transportation through the Tripura-Bangladesh boarder post and the boarder haat management.

Earlier, Dr Hasan visited the construction works of Akhaura-Agartala rail line along the Nishchintapur Boarder.

Additional Secretary and Film Development Corporation Director General Abdul Karim, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Agartala Kiriti Chakma, Agartala chief minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Bhenkteshwarul and senior officials were present at the meeting.
