DHAKA, Sept 15, 2019 (BSS) – The government has published a gazette on the ‘Ninth Wage Board Award’ for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies with effective from September 12, 2019.
The information ministry published the gazette, dated September 12 last, increasing the salary and allowance of journalists and newspaper workers by maximum 85 percent, a handout said today.
In the Ninth Wage Board Award, newspapers and news agencies were categorised in five grades.
On January 29, 2018, the government formed a 13-member wage board, headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Md Nizamul Huq. The board submitted its report to the government on October 28 last year.
Later, the government announced 45 percent of dearness allowance for journalists and workers of news papers and news agencies, which came into effect on March 1, 2018, the handout said.
