Raushan for bolstering economic diplomacy

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 12, 2019 (BSS) – Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Raushan Ershad today urged the government to bolster the economic diplomacy to turn the country into a higher middle income country by maintaining the continued economic development trend.

“In last 10 years, the growth of all economic indexes is gradually on the rise . . . The diplomats in all Bangladesh missions abroad will have to work for expanding export markets of domestic products to keep the ongoing development trend,” she told the House while delivering her concluding speech before prorogation of the fourth session of the 11th parliament this evening.

Lauding the recent London conference of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with all Bangladeshi diplomats of European countries, the opposition leader said by this way, the diplomats can be inspired to gear up economic diplomacy.

Raushan asked the authorities concerned to take all necessary measures to ensure sending remittances through legal channel and serve the interest of the Bangladeshi nationals working abroad.

“Simultaneously we have to look for the new labour markets abroad and send skilled manpower to different countries,” she added.

Referring to the recent outbreak of dengue diseases, the Opposition Leader said mass people will have to play a positive role alongside with the government to prevent the diseases that killed many people in recent time.
