DHAKA, July 25, 2017 (BSS) – The overall power situation will further improve in the next one year as the government is working continuously in the transmission and gridlines in rural areas keeping in view the country’s coveted economic progress.

“Within the next one year, we expect the power situation in rural areas to further improve,” he told BSS here today after addressing the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) on the first day of their three-day conference at the cabinet division.

The state minister sought all-out cooperation from the DCs to ensure steady power supply in the rural areas saying, the government would provide Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) instead of pipeline gas.

“We have to create awareness among the rural people because LPG would be affordable in the near future and the government is trying to make LPG as a popular fuel for household users instead of natural gas,” he informed the DCs at the conference.

Nasrul also said the government has a plan to introduce underground cable in Gazipur, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Narayanganj, Faridpur as well as in other large cities.

He said the government needs to acquire necessary land for installing transmission lines at the district level at a time for the next 15 years.

The state minister told the DCs that the power division would take necessary measures for supplying electricity during the next Ramadan and irrigation season on the basis of the DC’s information.

He sought advance information in this regard and deputy commissioners assured him for it.
