SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 11, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Flag Vessels (Protection) Bill, 2019 was placed in the parliament with a view to protect the interest of the Bangladesh flag vessels.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury placed the bill in the House with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Miah in the chair.
Placing the bill, the state minister said the new proposed bill will protect the interest of the local vessels owners and expedite the country’s export import through these vessels.
Even the proposed act has prioritized the right of the local vessels and it will also save the foreign currency which is being spent as a rent for hiring the foreign vessels for export import, he added.
The State Minister urged the House to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny within 10 days.
