Robot Olympiad held at DU

DHAHA, Sept 7, 2019 (BSS) – A two-day Bangladesh Robot Olympiad concluded
today at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU).

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel was present
as chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Samad was
present as special guest.

The Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of DU and
Bangladesh Open Source Network jointly organised the event, said a DU press
release.

Stressing on acquiring knowledge on Robotics, Deputy Minister Nowfel said,
“Book distribution among students on the very first day of a year, free
education, giving tiffin to school students, giving opportunity to learn
computer at school level and digitalisation of education have been
implemented because of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s timely decisions.”

Pro-VC Prof Samad said, “The new generation has to prepare with
humanitarian values along with scientific development.”

Chairman of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of DU
Dr Shamim Ahmed Dewan presided over the inaugural session while President of
Bangladesh Robot Olympiad Prof Dr Lafifa Jamal, General Secretary of
Bangladesh Open Source Network Monir Hassan, among others, addressed the
programme.

Around 400 students from different schools of the country participated in
the Olympiad.
