PM mourns death of Zimbabwe ex-president Mugabe
DHAKA, Sept 6, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep condolences at the death of former president of Zimbabwe Robert Gabriel Mugabe.
In a condolence message sent to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the prime minister said: “On this sad day, we recall with deep appreciation the significant contributions of the former president, African nationalist and revolutionary hero Mr. Robert Gabriel Mugabe, to shaping the future of the Republic of Zimbabwe.”
Sheikh Hasina said Robert Mugabe will be remembered for his struggle to free Zimbabwe from colonialism, imperialism and white minority rule.
“On this sorrowful occasion, we pray for salvation of the departed soul and convey deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the friendly people of Zimbabwe,” she added.
Robert Mugabe, who had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore since April, has died aged 95, media reports said.
