Three killed in Rangpur, Thakurgaon road accidents

RANGPUR, May 23, 2018 (BSS) – Three persons were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents at different places of Rangpur and Thakurgaon districts today, officials said.

Two persons were killed and five others injured when a Rangpur bound passenger bus from Bogra hit a roadside tree and fell down into the nearby ditch at Madarhat point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila here this afternoon.

The deceased included a minor boy, 12, and an unidentified woman, 30, said In-charge of Barodorga Highway Police Camp Sub-inspector (SI) Moazzem Hossain.

“Three of the injured passengers have been admitted to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex while two seriously injured passengers sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital,” the SI added.

In another road accident, a motorcyclist was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle at ‘Balaka Uddyan’ point on the Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway under Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district this noon.

Personnel from Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Defense Station rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

“The deceased was identified as Raju Mian, 35, of Biral upazila in Dinajpur district,” said Station Officer Mofidar Rahman of Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Defense Station.

Two separate cases were filed in these connections with the respective police stations.
