LAKSHMIPUR, July 25, 2017 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in Sadar upazila of the district.
Additional District and Session Judge M Saidur Rahman Gazi pronounced the verdict convicting Jasim Uddin of Dighli village of the upazila, for killing his wife Fatema Akhter in 2001.
According to the prosecution story, in brief, on January 05 in 2001, Jasim killed his wife Fatema over a family matter at his house and fled away.
Later, police recovered the body of Fatema from a pond near their house.
Saki Ahamed, brother of the victim, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against Jasim.
Police after investigation submitted a charge-sheet to the court.
The judge after examining the witnesses and evidences handed down the verdict today.
