Bazar Monitoring Committee inspects Rangpur markets

RANGPUR, May 23, 2018 (BSS) – The Bazar Monitoring Committee of the district administration inspected retailer shops in different kitchen markets of the city on Tuesday afternoon to maintain stable prices of essential commodities during the holy month of Ramadan.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Hafizur Rahman led inspection activities of the Bazar Monitoring Committee at the kitchen and grocery shops at Mini Bazar, Nababganj Bazar, City Bazar, Station Bazar, Lalbag Bazar and other markets of the city.

The ADM inspected different retailer shops, talked to the common consumers and traders on prices of essential commodities and observed price list boards and asked the traders for selling foodstuffs strictly following the displayed price lists.

He suggested the traders for ensuring smooth business of pure foodstuffs without chemicals and colours and stopping sales of rotten and uneatable foods in the markets, open places and footpaths.

The Bazar Monitoring Committee also visited Rangpur Rail Station and directed all concerned to take steps for saving the common passengers from harassment of the ticket brokers and black marketers.

During the inspection activities, the ADM told local journalists that the traders would ensure reasonable price of essentials, supply pure, dust-free Iftari items and foodstuffs and smooth supply of formalin-free fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and other goods in the city markets.

“The district administration is also conducting mobile courts, monitoring price lists and penalizing those traders for selling essential commodities at higher prices than mentioned in price lists and for supplying or selling adulterate foodstuffs,” the ADM added.

President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rezaul Islam Milan, Vice-president of city Awami League Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anwara Ferdousi Poly, District Marketing Officer Hassan Sarwar, Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department Afsana Parvin, Additional Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension Matlubar Rahman and business community leaders were present.
