41 NGOs withdrawn from Rohingya camps: Momen

SYLHET, Aug 31, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said
the government has withdrawn 41 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from
the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and suspended their activities for their
misdeeds.

The minister said this replying to a question from a journalist after
attending a programme here.

Besides those, a number of other NGOs have started working in the Rohingya
camps violating the conditions given by the government, Momen said, adding
that the local administration and detectives are working to identify them to
take legal actions.

A total of 139 NGOs have started their activities in the Rohingya camps
since the Rohingya people took shelter in Cox’s Bazar, he said.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated the Medical Waste Management programme of
Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) in Dakkhin Surma here in the morning.

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Chief Executive
Officer Bidhayak Roy Chowdhury, Education Affairs Secretary of Sylhet City
Awami League and Councilor Azadur Rahman and Private Hospital and Clinic
Association President Dr Nasim Ahmad were present in the function, among
others.
