Light to moderate rain with lightning flashes likely

DHAKA, May 22, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

It may also occur at a few places over Khulna, Barisal and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during the period, said a met office bulletin here today.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.

Westerly low lies over Bihar and adjoining area, extending its trough to the North Bay across Gangetic west Bengal, the release said, adding that seasonal low lies over the South Bay.

In association with rain or thundershowers temporary westerly or northwesterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla and Chattogram wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one by 6 pm today, said a met office weather warning.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at Dinajpur, Sayedpur and Dimla in Rangpur division and today’s minimum temperature 22.5 degrees Celsius at Rangamati in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 63 mm at Chandpur in Chattogram division.

The sun sets at 6.37 pm today and rises at 5.13 am tomorrow in the capital.
