The finance minister was addressing a discussion organized to mark the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day by National Board of Revenue (NBR) in city’s Institute of Diploma Engineers’ Auditorium.

Mentioning that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not only a name, it is a name of belief, a flag and a country, he said: “We have to repay debt to Bangabandhu by ensuring country’s economic freedom and establishing Bangladesh before the world as s prosperous country.”

Former Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr A A M S Arefin Siddique, NBR Members Kalipad Halder and Sultan Md Iqbal, National Savings Department Director General Shamsunnahar Begum and Internal Resources Division Additional Secretary Bishwajit Banik also spoke at the discussion with NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan in the chair.

The conspiracy behind the killing of Bangabandhu is still going on and the grenade attack on his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2004 was a part of it, he added.
