Ivy Rahman’s 15th death anniversary observed

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2019 (BSS) – The 15th death anniversary of Ivy Rahman,
former president of Bangladesh Mahila Awami League and wife of late President
Zillur Rahman, was observed today in a befitting manner.

To mark the day, different political and socio-cultural organizations,
including Bangladesh Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and other
likeminded organizations took elaborate programmes.

The programmes included placing wreaths and offering Fateha at her (Ivy)
grave at Banani graveyard, arranging milad mahfil and special prayers and
holding discussions in the capital and elsewhere across the country.

Central leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies paid rich
tributes to Ivy Rahman by placing wreaths at the Banani graveyard this
morning. They also offered Fateha and doa seeking eternal peace of her
departed soul.

AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul
Quader was present, among other leaders.

A milad and doa mahfil was held at the Ivy Concord Tower at Gulshan-2
seeking eternal peace of departed soul of late President Zillur Rahman, Ivy
Rahman and August 21 grenade attack martyrs.

Apart from family members and relatives of the deceased, leaders and
workers of Awami League and its associate bodies attended the milad and doa
mahfil.

Besides, separate milad and Qurankhawni was held at Ivy’s ancestral home
and in-laws residence at Bhairab upazila in Kishoreganj district.

Ivy Rahman, also former president of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, received
grievous injuries during a grisly grenade attack on an AL rally at
Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on August 21, 2004 and succumbed to her
injuries on August 24.
