Rain with lightning flashes likely

DHAKA, May 19, 2018 (BSS)-Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24-hour ending 9am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” said a met bulletin issued this morning here.

Moreover, one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions may see moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today, the bulletin added.

Seasonal low lies over South Bay while trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.

Day temperature may rise slightly over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34 degrees Celsius yesterday at Rajshahi and Mongla and today’s minimum temperature 22 degrees Celsius at Mongla in Khulna division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24-hour as of 6am today was recorded 52 mm at Chandpur in Chattogram division.

The sun sets today at 6:36pm and rises at 5:14 am tomorrow in the capital.
