Rain likely at many places over the country: Met office

DHAKA, August 24, 2019 (BSS) -Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that rain accompanied by temporary squally wind might occur in many parts of the country in the next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Mymensingh division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country”, said a BMD bulletin issued here this morning.

“…Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay. A low is likely to form over north-west Bay and adjoining area during next 24 hrs”.

The day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

As an outlook for the next 72 hours, the bulletin said that the rain or thunder showers may decrease at the end period.

The highest temperature on Friday was recorded 35.7 degrees Celsius at Nikli under Dhaka division while today’s minimum temperature was 23.8 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur under Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:24 pm today and rises at 5:37am tomorrow in the capital.
