Jamal lifts Gemcon golf title

DHAKA, May 17, 2018 (BSS) – Country’s one of the leading golfer Jamal Hossain Mollah, living under the shadow of more fancied Siddiqur Rahman once showed ever growing maturity as went on to bag the prestigious Gemcon Professional Golf Tournament crown in a grand manner which concluded at the Kurmitola Golf Club yesterday.

Jamal rallied the challenge of Badal Hossain to pocket the top prize. The 33-year old golfer finished with an aggregate score of 13-under-par (275) while Badal Hossain had to remain satisfied at second spot with a score of two-under-par (286). He did finished tied for fourth position in the recently held AB Bank Bangladesh Open.

A total of 90 Bangladeshi golfers including 12 amateurs took part in the 11-lakh-taka competition, organised by the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association.

State minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder was present as chief guest in the closing ceremony and gave the prizes among the winners.

Saeed Ahmed, chief human resource officer of Gemcon Group and BPGA president Asif Ibrahim were also present on the occasion.
