CHANDPUR, Aug 20, 2019 (BSS) – Local people from a pond here have caught a Russell Viper, a species of venomous snake in the family Viperidae of venomous Old World vipers.
The snake was caught yesterday from a pond in Kodalia of Chandpur municipality area, upazila officials said.
One Apu Patwari kept the snake in his custody, and later handed it over to assistant commissioner (land) Imran Hossain.
Imran Hossain said the snake has been sent to venom research centre of Chittagong Medical College this afternoon.
Another snake of same species was caught about one month ago. But it was beaten to death by locals.
