Drugs worth Tk 7.28 cr destroyed in Khulna

KHULNA, July 24, 2017(BSS) – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-21 on Monday destroyed a huge quantity of illegal drugs worth about Taka 7.28 crore at its headquarters in Gilatola area under the city.

BGB sources said the drugs were seized from January 2014 to June 2017 in the border areas of Jessore.

Assistant Commissioner of Khulna District Administration Executive Magistrate Md Nazmul Hasan was present during the destruction of drugs. The destroyed drugs are 66,592 bottles of phensidyl, 580 bottles foreign liquor, 974 bottles beer, 8,838 liters local wine, five-kg hemp and 1,40,467 pieces of contraband medicine (tablets) including yaba.

Sector Commandar of Khulna Col ASM Anisul Haque, Commandar of BGB Battalion-21 Lt Col Md Tariqul Hakim, government officials, high officials of law enforcement agencies and Narcotics Control Department and local journalists were present, among others.
