U-15 football team reaches in Kalyani

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2019 (BSS)- The Bangladesh U-15 football team reached in
Kalyani, the adjoining city of Kolkata, today to take part in the SAFF U-15
Championship scheduled to be held on August 21-31 in Kolkata, India.

Five of the South Asian regional countries will take part in the regional
Championship, said an official of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

The five participating teams — defending champions Bangladesh, India,
Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka — will play in round-robin format from where the
top two teams will move to the final slated for August 31.

Last edition’s runners-up Pakistan and the Maldives are not taking part in
the championship.

Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in their opening match of the championship
on August 23.

The two times champions Bangladesh, who beat Pakistan 3-2 in penalty shoot
out in the last edition’s final held in Nepal, will square off their second
match against Sri Lanka on August 25 before playing Nepal and host India on
August 27 and 29 respectively.

All the matches of the championship will be held at the Kalyani Stadium in
West Bengal.

Earlier in the morning, the Bangladesh U-15 football team left for Kolkata
to take part in the championship.
