KCC takes steps to stop Chikungunya outbreak

KHULNA, July 24, 2017 (BSS) -With a view to spreading awareness of the outbreak of Chikungunya among city dwellers, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has taken a move to distribute 50,000 leaflets and conduct awareness programmes at its 31 wards.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at Shaheed Altaf Auditorium of KCC with Mayor Moniruzzaman Mony in the chair on Sunday.

The meeting urged city dwellers for regularly cleaning flower tubs, refrigerators, air conditioners and open spaces on the house premises to stop breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.

Mayor Moniruzzaman said KCC has taken the preventive measures to check Chikungunya outbreak though no patient has been detected in city area.

Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr ASM Abdur Razzak, Panel Mayors-Md Anisur Rahman Biswas, Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Ruma Khatun and councilors from different wards, among others, were present at the meeting.
