National Mourning Day observed in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Aug 16, 2019 (BSS) – The National Mourning Day-2019 and 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed on Thursday in a befitting manner.

The district administration, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies, educational institutions, government offices, socio-cultural and professional organisations observed the day paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu.

The programmes included hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and educational institutions soon after sunrise, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, Qurankhwani, milad mahfil, discussion and blood donation.

Hundreds of AL workers gathered in front of Zilla Muktijuddha Sangsad in the morning to place wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu.

Marking the day, a discussion was held at local Shilpakala Academy.

Deputy Commissioner, Narsingdi Syeda Farhana Kawnine addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Abdul Awal in the chair.

The discussion was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Narsingdi Zilla Parishad Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, Police Super, Narsingdi, Pralay Kumar Jourder, Deputy Director, Local Government Division, ATM Mahabubol Karim, ADC (general) Mohammad Abdul Awal, Former Principals of Narsingdi Government College Prof Mohammad Ali and Prof Golam Mostafa Miah and former president of District Muktijuddah Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen.

The chief guest Syeda Farhana Kawnine said the ideology of Bangabandhu could not erased by killing Bangabandhu as he would remain alive in the heart of the people of Bangladesh forever.

Besides, Narsingdi Town Awami League and Narsingdi Zilla Parishad also organized separate discussion meetings marking the National Mourning Day 2019.
