People ready to observe Mourning Day in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 14, 2019 (BSS) – The common people are set to observe the
National Mourning Day-2019 and 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman here tomorrow.

Officials and Awami League (AL) leaders said the district administration,
AL and its associate bodies, sociocultural, political and professional
organisations, educational institutions and other organisations will observe
the day.

Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan said the observance will begin with hoisting of the national flag at half-mast atop all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and institutions after the sunrise followed by wearing of black badges.

Later, high officials, political leaders, head of different organisations,
institutions and departments and common people will place wreaths at the
Mural of Bangabandhu on Bangabandhu Square in the city.

After placing wreaths at the Mural of Bangabandhu there, one-minute silence will be observed and special munajats be offered and before bringing out a mourning procession on the city streets.

“The main discussion on Bangabandhu followed by distribution of prizes
among winners of drawing, essay writing and other competitions to be
organised by the District Shishu Academy will be held at Town Hall
auditorium,” the DC said.

Presided over the Deputy Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul
Islam will attend the discussion as chief guest.

“The District Information Office will screen documentary films on
Bangabandhu, his lifelong Struggles and sacrifice for Independence and War of
Liberation at cinema halls and open places across the district, the DC added.

Rangpur Betar Kendra will air special programs and local newspapers
publish special supplements.

Milad mahfils will be organised and special munajats and prayers be offered
at mosques, mandirs, churches, pagodas and educational institutions seeking
divine blessings for the departed soul of Bangabandhu.

The Islamic Foundation will organise programs like recitation from the Holy
Qur’an, Hamd, Naat and Doa mahfil and a special discussion at its auditorium
on the life and works of Bangabandhu.

Office Secretary of district AL Tauhidur Rahman Tutul said the district
and city units of the party and its associate bodies already began month-long
observance of the National Mourning Day-2019 and 44th martyrdom anniversary
of Bangabandhu here from one-minute past midnight on August 1 last.

The observance began with placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu
following by lighting of candles on district AL office premises in the city.

The month-long observance programs include playing of the historic March 7
Speech of Bangabandhu, blood donation, screening of documentary films on
Bangabandhu, hoisting of the national and party flags at half-mast and
wearing black badges.

Besides, the programs include recitation from the Holy Quran, milad mahfils
and bringing out of mourning procession, placing wreath at the Mural of
Bangabandhu and distribution of foods among distressed people and discussions
tomorrow.
