Senior citizen cards to be introduced: Menon

 DHAKA, May 14, 2018 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said the government will introduce senior citizen cards for the elderly people of the country aiming to ensure their dignified life.

“There are 1.30 crore old aged people in the country. We are working to provide necessary facilities through providing them senior citizen cards,” he told a function in the auditorium of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) at Agargaon in the city, an official release said.

Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Ministry Foyez Ahmed and Managing Director of PKSF Md Abdul Karim , among others, attended the function with PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad in the chair.

Menon said, “Elderly people would not be burden of society…. they deserve dignified life in the society. So, we need support from all segments of the people to ensure normal life of old aged people.”

He said the government is taking different initiatives including old age allowance for the well-being of elderly people.
