New pesticides will be sprayed from Thursday: DNCC Mayor
DHAKA, Aug 7, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor
Atiqul Islam has said two new pesticides will be sprayed from Thursday to
control the Aedes mosquitoes, carrier of the deadly dengue virus.
The mayor said this at a press conference arranged by DNCC at Nagar Bhabhan
today.
“The two new products of Malathion came from a Chinese company– Nanjing
Ecofarm Technology– on Tuesday,” he said, adding that the pesticides have
been tested at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research
(IEDCR) lab.
Atiqul said a nine-member team has been formed for each ward comprising
Bangladesh Scouts and The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) members to
go every home and destroy breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes.
“After visiting houses, the team would apply stickers there…During the
next follow-up visit, the owners, if anyone found not following the
guidelines, would be fined,” he added.
