DHAKA, August 06, 2019 (BSS) -The Dhaka University (DU) authorities today suspended 69 students for resorting to unfair means in the university admission tests.

The decision was taken at a disciplinary board meeting today. It was chaired by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman, said a university press release.

“The decision of suspension against the students was taken as allegations against them were found to be true and also as they were enlisted by the CID as criminals” it added.

These 69 students were admitted to the university in the academic sessions from 2012-13 to 2017-18, the release said.

According to the handout, the students would be given a show-cause notice and they will have a response time of seven days.

After seven days the fate of the students would be finalized by the syndicate. The disciplinary board has recommended expulsion of the students permanently.

On June 23 this year, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police pressed charges against 125 people, including 87 students of Dhaka University, in a case filed over their alleged involvement in question leaks and cheating to make their way into the university.
