Three get life term jail in C’nawabanj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 6, 2019 – (BSS) – A Chapainawabganj court today sentenced three persons to life term imprisonment in an arms case.

Judge of the Chapainawabganj special tribunal-2 and additional district and sessions judge Md. Shawkat Ali gave this verdict.

The convicted persons are Shah Alam, 42, son of Ainuddin of Shyampur Gopalnagar village, Abul Kalam, 36, son of Md. Dulu of Telkupi village both under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district and Md. Osman Ali, 29, son of Nurul Hoque of Aholla Sadharpara village under Boalkhali upazila in Chottogram district.

Among the convicted persons, Osman Ali is on the run.

Another accused of the case Saiful Islam, son of Sohrab Ali of Sankarbati village in Chapainawabganj municipality was acquitted as the charges brought against him was not proved.

According to the prosecution story, a team of police of detective branch on secret information, raided a house at Sankarbati village under Chapainawabganj municipality on October 24, 2016 and recovered 22 pistols, 45 magazines and 136 rounds of bullet. Shah Alam took rent of the house to use it as a goat farm.

Sub-inspector Abdul Karim of Chapainawabganj sadar thana filed a case with Chapainawabganj sadar thana accusing four persons.

Later, DB inspector Mahbub Alam submitted charge sheet against them to the court on April 22, 2017. After hearing the witnesses the court handed down the punishment.
