HC orders 4 BNP leaders to surrender within 6-week

DHAKA, Aug 6, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered four leaders
of BNP, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to
surrender before trial court within six weeks in a case lodged for allegedly
making threats.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and
Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after holding hearing on
anticipatory bail petitions filed by the four.

The petitioners are Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandaker Mosharraf
Hossain, Goyeswar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

The court also asked law enforcers not to arrest or harass them in any way
during this time.

A Dhaka court on August 5 issued warrant to arrest nine leaders and
activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) including party acting
Chairman Tarique Rahman and its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
for making death threats.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order, taking
into cognizance a case filed against them by Jananetri Parishad president AB
Siddiqui.
