Humayun for public-private coordination for skilled workforce

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2019 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP, today laid emphasis on proper coordination between public and private initiatives to prepare a skilled workforce through quality training.

The minister was addressing a workshop on “National Consultation on 4th Industrial Revolution and Future of Work” as chief guest in a city hotel, said a ministry release.

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP, was special guest at the workshop jointly organized by UNIDO and a2i. Principal Coordinator of SDG Affairs at Prime Minister’s Office Md. Abul Kalam Azad was guest of honor.

National Skills Development Authority Executive Chairman Md Faruque Hossain, Director General of the Directorate of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Dr Syed Golam Faruk, UNIDO Regional Representative Van Berkel Rene, MCCI President Nihad kabir and ILC Bangladesh Senior Specialist Kishore Kumar Sing, among others, also spoke on the occasion.

A2i policy adviser Anir Chowdhury and Van Berkel Rene made keynote presentation in the workshop.

Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury said contribution of industrial sector to the national economy is being increased due to the inclusion of ICT education in the academic curriculum.

He said new features including robotics would be introduced to develop necessary manpower to cope up with the fourth industrial revolution.

Abul Kalam Azad said industrial infrastructures for the future would be set up in the under-implementation 100 special economic zones. He urged both local and foreign entrepreneurs to bring the future technology in the country.
