DHAKA, May 10, 2018 (BSS) – A new chair titled ‘OIC-IRCICA Chair’ will be set up at the Department of Islamic History and Culture of Dhaka University (DU) to promote education and research on Islamic history and civilisation.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the DU and OIC Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) was signed recently at the 45th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Dhaka for setting up this chair.
DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin and IRCICA Director General Dr Halit Eren signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides, a DU press release said today.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was present on this occasion.
According to the MoU, DU and IRCICA will work together to establish peace and harmony among the people of different cultures and faiths across the world.
They will jointly organise seminar, workshop, conference and meeting. Besides, they will provide scholarship to DU students for higher study as well as offer awards of appreciation for valuable research works in the fields of Islamic history, culture and civilisation.
