KISHOREGANJ, May 11, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today sought the ‘doa’ (blessings) of the people of his ancestral village here so that he can perform his duty properly for the welfare of the country and its people.

“I want to work for the welfare and development of the whole country, including the haor region facing frequent flashfloods,” he said, addressing a post-Jumma prayers gathering at his ancestral village Kamalpur in Mithamoin upazila of the district this afternoon.

This was the first visit of Abdul Hamid to his village home in the remote area of Kishoreganj after taking oath of office as the country’s President for the second consecutive term on April 24.

Expressing his shock over the recent unnatural deaths from the thunderbolts in the haor region, President Hamid prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

The President said his Jumma prayers at the mosque adjacent to his house and exchanged views with the locals seeking their ‘doa’ for him so that he can be able to do his job as the President of the republic in a fair and proper manner.

After the prayers, he offered fateha at the graves of his father Md Tayebuddin and mother Tomiza Khatun and some other relatives at Kamalpur village.

President Hamid also visited some development projects including the newly renovated building of the Mithamoin Union Council Office at Mithamoin Bazar here.

He spent some time there and talked to the local political and business leaders.

Local political leaders including Rezwan Ahmed Taufiq, MP, Justice Amir Hossain of High Court Division, senior civil and military officials and secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban accompanied the President.

Earlier, President Hamid arrived here by a helicopter at Mithamoin Helipad Ground at about 12 noon.

He was received by political leaders, local MP and senior officials of the district administration by presenting a bouquet.
